The next book in The Bracken Covenant Series is coming out next month.

I’ve got the details worked out, and it seems that it is going to possible to meet my goal of publishing the next book in The Bracken Covenant Series by the end of next month! It’s going to require a lot of work on my end, probably 4-6 hours of writing, editing, proofreading, formatting, etc. every day, but I really want this birthday to stand for something, since I’m getting older, and time is slipping away.

Here’s what my schedule looks like up until launch day:
April 15-28: Finish first draft
April 29-May 5: Edit and expand
May 6-12: Proofread
May 13-19: Format, create cover art, write summary and descriptions, get ready for epublishing
May 20: Publish!
May 24: Start a Kickstarter to print a paperback version of book.
May 25: Hold a book bomb on my birthday

There’s the schedule. I’m getting the “writing books in four months” thing down pretty consistently, which is pretty cool. Never before last year would I have thought I could write a book under a year’s time, let alone four months!

If you want to help, when the book bomb happens, you can help by buying a copy of the book, but until then the best thing you can do is subscribe here and on my Facebook page. I’ll keep everyone in the loop with the book’s progression here and there. Let others know about this too. There’s not too many writers that get out two books in a series under six months, so I think it’s pretty unique. Let’s spread the word!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life, it’s not to be a doubting Boromir. It can be done! Even though the path may seem difficult—perhaps even impossible.

The Best Birthday Present Ever

Welcome back! It’s been a bit. I’ve been writing my fingers off on this new book in The Bracken Covenant series and just lost track of time with my blog (It’s a bad habit I have, I’m pretty one-track minded). I’ve got some awesome news, so let’s get to it.

My topic needs a precursor, so let me start with announcing that my birthday is next month (May 25th). You might be saying to yourself, “So what? Announcing your birthday to the world? Come on guy. Grow up. Nobody over 10 announces their birthday to random people out of excitement.” And I would have to say back “True, true. You have a point there. But THIS birthday is going to be different. I’m actually going to try to improve myself this birthday. Celebrate by striving for excellence, and I need your help to ultimately do that.”

So what is this “striving for excellence” business? Not only am I going to work on finishing book two in The Bracken Covenant series, but I’m also going host a Kickstarter for getting it printed! For those who don’t know what Kickstarter is, it’s a crowd-funding program. If there’s an artistic project you would like to fund, you can donate to its development for rewards and incentives. (In the case of books, it’s usually the book itself. You’re practically just preordering the book.) The plan is for me to have the Kickstarter for book two up by my birthday, because really, that’s all I’ve ever wished for on my birthday—for my books to sell something, anything. I’ve made that wish since I was a teenager, and still haven’t been as successful as I wanted to be.

So there’s lots of preparations to be made, schedules to write up for me to get this project on track, and more explaining about what you can do to help support this project when the Kickstarter happens, but for now, just wanted to show you what I’m working towards.

Share the word if you can. It really helps. Reaching out online is difficult without having friends sharing the word with their friends. I'll be back within a week with a firm plan and more details. Until then, subscribe to my blog and Facebook author page (Paul Toy Yoder - Writer) to keep up with me.

Buy a Book, Enjoy the Evening

It’s been a week or two since last I posted. Life had to get involved with my writing/posting schedule which took me back a few day’s with my writing. All’s cleared up now though and thankfully I am writing again. Anyways, on with the news.

My very talented wife, who is a graphic designer, put together a nice flyer for my book! I’m really pleased with it and hope to get the word spread around. I obviously do want as many people to see the flyer for my book as possible, so please share this post with friends on Facebook or here on Blogger.

It really is a difficult lot writers have. I just now got back my first month’s sales numbers; and, well, the numbers aren’t as high as I was expecting them to be, neither the number of reviews on Amazon. Putting hundreds of hours into a book is an exhausting and drawn-out experience to say the least, and the only way the triumph of finally finishing that book and getting it published can be realized is if there are readers out there to pick it up and read it.

I really do appreciate you sharing my Facebook and blog posts, along with my actual book sales page on Amazon to friends and family you may know that like a good thriller. The cost is low, the read is somewhat short, and in my opinion, it’s worth a few hours and a couple of bucks to experience what Tome of Victims has to offer.
